My research focuses on innovative numerical modelling, optimization, control theory, and decision-support methods for climate-resilient infrastructure and water–energy nexus systems, with a particular emphasis on hydropower planning, operation, and modernization.
I developed HYPER, a MATLAB toolbox for the optimal design of run-of-river hydropower plants, and extended this work through HYPER-MORDM, a many-objective robust decision-making framework for identifying reliable and efficient designs under deep uncertainty.
My recent work advances physics-informed and adaptive approaches for capturing dynamic hydropower performance in long-term energy planning and for modernizing hydropower systems through turbine upgrades that improve efficiency and resilience. This work includes the development of HyTUNE, a decision-support framework that represents variable turbine efficiency, reservoir operation inference, adaptive turbine replacement strategies, and hydropower performance under future climate scenarios.
Overall, my research aims to improve the robustness, reliability, efficiency, and climate resilience of hydropower and water resources systems under changing hydrologic, operational, climatic, and infrastructure conditions.
