Özet
Remanufacturing is considered as an industrial process in which used products are restored to like-new condition. Many companies are involved in retrieving used product; since recovery of the used products is in some cases economically more attractive than disposal and the growth of environmental concerns give recovery increasing attention. Some original equipment manufacturers (OEM) choose to remanufacture their own products as well at the end of their useful lives. They satisfy the demand with either new products from manufacturing lines or with remanufactured versions from the remanufacturing lines where a remanufactured product is assumed to be restored to like-new condition. These types of companies are referred to as hybrid companies. Due to uncertainties in the inflow and quality of returned products hybrid manufacturing systems call for modeling methods other than those produced for traditional manufacturing systems. This study analyzes how production system design, quality, and productivity are interrelated in hybrid manufacturing systems. In this paper, a new Markov process model for a machine that is shared by new and remanufactured parts with both quality and operational failures is developed, and important differences between types of quality failures are identified.
