Özet
This edited book focuses on narratives of teachers of non-English L2s. Much of what we know about L2 teaching is based on conclusions drawn from research on teaching English as an L2, with languages besides English being given short shrift or ignored entirely (Yiğitoğlu & Reichelt, 2019). However, it is necessary to look at L2 teaching practices in non-English languages in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding of language teaching because different target languages play different roles in the contexts in which they are taught. This can, in turn, influence teaching and learning in significant ways (Reichelt, 2009a, 2011; Yiğitoğlu & Reichelt, 2019, 2024). In order to push language theory forward and advance our understanding of L2 teaching practices, in this volume, we highlight narratives of teachers of non-English languages as well as contexts that are underrepresented in the literature.
