Consumer Alternative Dispute Resolution in Emerging Economies, Taylor & Francis Ltd, ss.1-5, 2025
Consumers, who usually have low-value claims, are the weaker party and need protection included in the institutions meant to protect them. 1Although redress was recognised as one of the consumer rights early on, efforts initially concentrated on creating rights for consumers without giving much thought to how those rights would be upheld. 2Particularly, legal systems of emerging economies are ill-prepared to safeguard consumer rights and leave them unprotected. In the upcoming years, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) systems, as a fast-growing phenomenon, may develop into a legitimate method for providing consumers with access to justice globally. Therefore, this book, the first to focus solely on consumer ADR systems in emerging economies, strives to close a significant gap in the legal literature by utilising technology to increase consumers’ access to justice.
