Özet
Over the last decade, there has been a surge in industry interest in expanding and developing additive manufacturing (AM) technologies due to their exceptional performance in creating lighter, customized, robust, and aesthetically appealing components at a reduced time and cost. Despite these advantages, AM components lack quality standards specified by real-world industrial applications. As a result, post-processing of AM components, particularly metal, is the only approach to offset the inefficiency of the AM process. Several post-processing methods involving physical, chemical, or thermal techniques are already available, and many of them are utilized commercially for mass finishing. One such technique is the vibratory surface finishing (VSF) method, which includes the physical contact of discrete VSF media particles on the AM surface. A simulation technique is also investigated to precisely analyze the progress achieved in the knowledge of media mobility on the AM surface as well as with other surrounding media particles. Finally, the physical impact of VSF media on the AM surface will be examined in terms of macro- and micro-structural modifications. This observation would be further analyzed to determine the overall benefit of the VSF process on the overall performance of AM components.
