Özet
Preventive maintenance is an essential factor to run the expensive advanced manufacturing facilities without failure. Inspection is the first step in a preventive maintenance program in order to identify the faults and correct them before a major breakdown occurs. Frequent inspection has a high probability to detect faults before a catastrophic failure strikes. Following this, preventive maintenance can significantly reduce the machine failure rate. However, the costs, in terms of dollars and time, of intensive preventive maintenance can be very high. The trade-off is that minimizing inspection and preventive maintenance may reduce the cost of these activities in the expense of high probability of failure. This paper proposes a multicriteria approach for optimizing inspection frequency based on maximization of availability and revenue.
