Özet

The performances that were part of the Gezi Park protests in Istanbul, Turkey, during the summer of 2013, proliferated via social media and helped spread the protests throughout Turkey and the world. A wide range of performance forms emerged as an urgent public expression of the political frustrations with increasing authoritarianism. From these expressive forms, iconic images caught the public imagination and spread from one genre and media to the next. © 2014 New York University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
