Özet

This paper presents a potential application of microgravity induced neutral body posture (MG-NBP) in one-g environment: the determination of the optimal joint angles and body orientation for a semi-sitting posture. A 2-D biomechanical model of MG-NBP was developed and analyzed to determine the shear and reaction forces induced by the proposed design on the seat surfaces. The results indicate that as backrest inclination (δ) decreases, the shear force on the upper leg decreases and reaction forces on thorax and crista iliaca increase approximately linearly. Horizontal component of reaction force on ischial tuberosities increases somewhat nonlinearly and vertical component decreases about linearly. The results favor a smaller δ to reduce strain on the knee.
